Blood Knot is Scott Goldbaum’s second single from his album Protector.
In the song, there’s a specific line in that song that struck such a chord with me: "shame & pride live inside; thank god I have my mother's eyes" In an instant, I saw it: a stark, single-shot, one-take, slow-capture portrait zooming out from Scott's eyes, capturing any flinches or twitches or gestures that would come up in the moment.
I knew the gravitas of this 90-second song, and we both wanted to get it right, so shooting this was intense and a bit of a risk: I would hit record and instantly leave the room to Scott and the camera, trying my best to capture a sincere moment and not be a distraction.
