“The Stairs” is a movie about an older man facing the realities of his loneliness and hires a male escort for company on Christmas Eve. “The Stairs” is an alternate version of the prostitute story, an exploration of loneliness and the wide definition of intimacy. It is the story of our universal need as human beings to just connect with someone. Anyone. The desire to be seen and heard is far more important than almost anything else, and our lives depend on it. Even if it is the last thing we ever accomplish.
Three posters were created (the first being used for the main feature), and while each standss on its own, the three uniquely convey a complex mixture of emotion both the male leads experience: layered tones of solitude and loneliness; tension and anticipation; denial and acceptance.
